As famously described by author Eckhart Tolle in 'The Power of Now,' presence is the state of being in which you are completely in this moment (using your senses, being with what's around you, beyond thought). When you are present, you'll inevitably be closer to God/the Universe because God/the Universe is presence. Presence is what is.
At first presence can be a hard concept to grasp. This is because your entire life has conditioned you to everything that conflicts with presence- more on this later. In order to better understand, I'd recommend reading my blog posts further explaining presence concepts AND definitely read 'The Power of Now' by Eckhart Tolle for the most raw descriptions of the concepts.
My blog is fully based on bettering your mindset as a whole. Presence is the most important part of mental health and spirituality, so I will be talking a lot about it. My blog is, however, also about many other topics about your brain and general mental health help! If you struggle with negative thought, OCD, anxiety, etc., this is a great place to start!

Presence is. You can find presence in everything that has no ego or preference, for example, trees are very present. They don't worry about the future or think of the past, they are perfect as they are in this moment. Presence is the peace you feel in a blissful moment when you're only admiring what's around you rather than worrying about what's not. It is a very hard concept to put into words, because it cannot be held by words- it is closer to a feeling.

As Eckhart Tolls says in The Power of Now, that you cannot think and be present at the same tine. Thoughts are your ego keeping you from presence by giving you worries and distractions from the Now. If you are thinking, you aren't present, and therefore can't reach your full potential.

The Now is important because it's all that exists! The past is gone and will never be back, and the future doesn't exist at all. This exact moment of your life is your life. How could you let it slide by? Usually it happens in the background of your mind with your ego in charge. It keeps you from noting the now by giving you reasons you MUST think about other things. This is something worth changing, as missing this moment right now is missing everything.

This book is the road to enlightenment, and is the thing that made mine come so much faster. I am still learning everyday, and I re-read this book constantly. If you purchase anything in your life, it should be this book, you won't regret it.

Presence is the only way to tap into reality as a whole. When you are living in your mind, through thoughts and emotions, you are not interacting with reality. You are just creating and maintaining a facade of your life.

You can't fully know or be with someone without being present with them. You will never truly listen to them speak or notice their being without stepping out of your mind & opinions. Seeing someone without mental noise is a huge deal.

Presence is the only way to peace. You don't exist in the past or future, and your personality also doesn't exist. It creates a lot of stress and suffering trying to maintain things that don't exist, and lose what does in doing so.
